Welcome to 'NITES
'NITES was an Austin-based blog that covered the local music scene in Central Texas. I started this blog because I love live music and I think Austin is the best city in the world to discover talented new bands. I ran this blog with passion and enthusiasm for a few years, before growing apart from the scene I'd once lived and breathed. This blog spent a year in limbo before I made the final decision to shutter it. The blog's previous posts will remain live, but there will be no future updates. Thanks for your years of readership and feedback. It was fun while it lasted, but times change. People change. Scenes change. Change isn't something to fear, but rather something to embrace. Peace, love and rock 'n' roll, y'all. Feel free to dig through the archives for photos, videos and writeups about Austin music from 2008 to 2010. If you use my work anywhere, please give me credit. Thanks!

Episode#13: Nothing More
Every good rule has its exceptions. For one, there's the rule that 'Nites only films bands from Austin. Yeah, 9.5 times out of 10, the bands featured here will be from the 512 area code. But there's nothing wrong with showing a little love for the two Sans to the south (Marcos and Antonio). So with that, 'Nites presents Nothing More. This San Antone alternative rock quartet turned a lot of heads at Stubb's on this night by combining a good ol' fashioned impassioned angst-rock performance with a bit of Stomp-inspired drumline theatrics and unorthodox use of a rock instrument. If you ever wondered what it would look and sound like if three dudes with two drums sticks played one bass guitar simultaneously, here's your answer. After the show, I asked Nothing More frontman Jonny Hawkins how they came up with the idea. He humbly attributed it to boredom and free time. These guys know how to put on an entertaining rock show. They've already played Warped Tour in their young career, so keep an eye out. Nothing More is going places.
